Millions of children – as many as 1 in 5 – struggle with mental health or learning challenges. Fully 70% of U.S. counties do not have a single child and adolescent psychiatrist. Due to stigma, misinformation, and a lack of access to care, the average time between onset of symptoms and any treatment at all is over 8 years. Our children deserve better and that’s why the Child Mind Institute was created.
Child Mind Institute is dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders by giving them the help they need. They’ve become the leading independent nonprofit in children’s mental health by providing gold-standard evidence-based care, delivering educational resources to millions of families each year, training educators in underserved communities, and developing tomorrow’s breakthrough treatments.
Together, we truly can transform children’s lives.
About
Child Mind Institute:
The Child Mind Institute is meeting critical children's mental health needs with far-reaching care, education, and science programs.
Why we 🤍 them: I love the Child Mind Institute because they understand that mental health care starts when you’re young. We’ve all known someone who has struggled with some type of mental health concern, and intercepting this at a young age to teach the right skills and tools to subsist and persist is such an important factor. They have assembled a team of all different backgrounds and cultures, solely focused on children’s mental health. Each child’s care does not get lost in the crowd, and every plan is completely personalized and continually optimized to make sure each child is getting the best and right care for them as an individual. Not only do they provide solicitude and care to the children that need it, but they also understand that education is a huge part of the battle. They run incredible school & community programs that have reached over 140k students, educators, and counselors, to help build the capacity for compassion and care in institutions all over. They’re doing such important work, and touching so many lives. Nicole from Maavee
